Life Cycle Talks is a series of talks presenting the research front to keep you up to date with the science and application of the life cycle perspective. Life Cycle Talks are produced by the Innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective & Swedish Life Cycle Center.

Together with Pedram Mirabian and Yasmine Priore, Alina Galimshina has held a workshop with the title “Low carbon building renovation – how and how much?”. During the workshop, the topic of building renovation considering various aspects such as thermal insulation, heating systems and renewable energy was discussed.

Divia Jimenez Encarnacion defended her licentiate thesis last week. Her thesis generated knowledge on the consumption and sharing of household goods to support the governance of a sustainable sharing economy (SE) in the city of Gothenburg.

Three Sustainable Building research group PhD students attended the Advances in LCA course which was held in collaboration between Chalmers and SLU in Uppsala, discussing the cutting edge research and debates in the field of life cycle assessment.

I-Greta project is part of a larger study at EU level, where Chalmers and HSB Living Lab are in charge of End-User study on Human-Machine Interfaces for energy flexibility study. During the reseach seminar at HSB Living Lab the recent study on the usage of the dishwaher and impact of smart interface on the dishwasher-related behaviourt change.

The second edition of the “Size of the Society” workshop took place at the University of Debrecen (Hungary) on April 21st, 2023.

In May the results of the DecarbonAIte project were published on the European Commission’s BUILD UP website. The article shows the case study developed in Uddevalla where different renovation solutions in a residential building from the 80s were analysed.

The Built-LCA Hackathon aims to explore the effective use of databases and develop a flexible communication system between Grasshopper and data sources of different resolutions. The primary challenge is to analyse the DeCarbonAIte Data workflow, which involves computing, storing, and presenting results, while incorporating databases into the process.

On May 3rd and 4th, the second Nordic Build-LCA PhD forum took place at Chalmers. In total, 16 PhD students joined to discuss their ongoing work, latest results, and open challenges.

The Twinable project by the Chalmers University of Technology uses mixed reality to project urban data onto a 3D model of Gothenburg created by Universeum Vislab, providing interactive visualisations that offer a new perspective on the city.
